The Yager family first became aware of the St. Jude Corvette Drive in June of 2016, after meeting Board President, Andrew Black, and hearing how he was helping pull the Corvette Community together, to raise funds for the lifesaving mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The Yagers were awed by the story of St. Jude founder, Danny Thomas. Originally known for his talents as a singer and actor, Thomas sought guidance from St. Jude Thaddeus, the patron saint of hopeless causes. He drew from his entertainment industry success to found St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which quickly became a world leader in developing new treatments for childhood cancers and other illnesses.

St. Jude remains a groundbreaking research hospital for several childhood illnesses, helping push overall childhood cancer survival rates from 20% when it opened in 1962 to 80% today. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

Since its 2012 inception, the St. Jude Corvette Drive has raised more than $880,000 to further the lifesaving mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Mid America Motorworks aims to use its considerable reach within the Corvette Community to raise awareness and grow participation in this annual event.

Needless to say, Mid America Motorworks is proud to have partnered with the St. Jude Corvette Drive and has recently announced St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as their permanent charity, hosting fundraising events and utilizing a round-up program where customers can donate to St. Jude.

The 2018 St. Jude Corvette Drive kicked off May 17th in Peoria, Ill. The group traveled to Mid America Motorworks in Effingham, where the four groups will depart and caravan to Memphis. While in Memphis, the Corvettes set up a car show for the staff, patients and their families at the hospital. Participants also have the opportunity to tour the hospital, where you will learn even more about the mission of St. Jude.

For Corvette enthusiasts who would like to participate, but do not want to drive, an option to join The Drive from the comfort of a charter bus is also available. Participants have the option to choose a starting point of Peoria or Effingham, Illinois.

Why I Drive

I was completely amazed by what I experienced while touring St. Jude.  This, combined with the dedication of the organizers, created an event that I immediately knew I had to be an ongoing part of.
