History of the St Jude Corvette Drive
“St. Jude Corvette Drive —Peoria to Memphis” was the brainchild of many. Over the course of several years, founder Mike McCoy, was approached by many Corvette enthusiasts to start a “Corvette Drive” from Peoria to Memphis.
2012 was the 1st year for this event which is modeled after the St. Jude Ride event which has raised over $1.3 Million Dollars for the Kids of St. Jude in 5 years. On May 3rd, a team of 36 Corvette drivers and St. Jude supporters departed Uftring Chevrolet in Washington for the 465-mile trek to Memphis.
Participants drove to Memphis, toured the hospital, visited with patients and doctors, and then drove back to Peoria. Each driver is required to raise $1,000 and each passenger will raise an additional $500. There were no expenses – thanks to the generous sponsorship of Gary Uftring, Uftring Chevrolet in Washington. The St. Jude Corvette Drive raised $50,000 in year one for the Kids of St. Jude – Keep track of our efforts on this website as we begin planning for the 3rd Annual St. Jude Corvette Drive – Peoria to Memphis on May 1 & 2, 2013!!!
